چکیده

In medical field, two-dimension ultrasound images are widely used in clinical diagnosis. Beamformer is critical in determining the complexity and performance of an ultrasound imaging system. Different from traditional means implemented with separated chips, a compact beamformer with 64 effective channels in a single moderate Field Programmable Gate Array has been presented in this paper. The compactness is acquired by employing receive synthetic aperture, harmonic imaging, time sharing and linear interpolation. Besides that, multi-beams method is used to improve the frame rate of the ultrasound imaging system. Online dynamic configuration is employed to expand system’s flexibility to two kinds of transducers with multi-scanning modes. The design is verified on a prototype scanner board. Simulation results have shown that on-chip memories can be saved and the frame rate can be improved on the case of 64 effective channels which will meet the requirement of real-time application. A Delta-Sigma beamformer with integrated apodization

This paper presents a new design of a discrete time Delta-Sigma (∆Σ) oversampled ultrasound beamformer which integrates individual channel apodization by means of variable feedback voltage in the Delta-Sigma analog to digital (A/D) converters. The output bit-width of each oversampled A/D converter remains the same as in an unmodified one. The outputs of all receiving channels are delayed and su...

B-Mode Photoacoustic Imaging using Linear Array: Numerical Study for Forward-Backward Minimum Variance Beamformer Combined with Delay-Multiply-and-Sum

Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a promising medical imaging modality which provides the resolution of Ultrasound (US) and the contrast of Optical imaging modalities. One of the most important challenges in PAI is image formation, especially in the case that a linear-array US transducer is used for data acquisition. This is due to the fact that in the linear-array scenario, there is only 60 degre...

Parallel Beamformation Method to Enhance Ultrasound Images

Contrast resolution and detail resolution are two important parameters in ultrasound imaging. This paper presents a new method to enhance these parameters, simultaneously. A parallel auxiliary beamformer has been employed whose weightings are such that an estimation of the leaked signal through the main beamformer is obtained. Then the output of main beamformer is modified according to the ...

Adaptive Beamformer Combined with Phase Coherence Weighting Applied to Ultrafast Ultrasound

Ultrafast ultrasound imaging is a promising technique for measurement of fast moving objects. In ultrafast ultrasound imaging, the high temporal resolution is realized at the expense of the lateral spatial resolution and image contrast. The lateral resolution and image contrast are important factors determining the quality of a B-mode image, and methods for improvements of the lateral resolutio...
